Today, I have a whole lot to say about energy!
Energy from the plasma light is being inducted into the fluorescent bulb |
- NASA can not only purify urine so that it's drinkable again, but now they're producing electrical power while they do it.
- Scientists would love to harness the power of the oceans - the tide is always moving, and there's a WHOLE lot of salt water available. So the U.S. Navy has figured out how to turn seawater into jet fuel and other scientists have discovered a way to create electricity when salt water runs down graphene - graphene is an important substance because it is a single atom thick, which gives it special properties. Soon we may have cell phone batteries that last for days and can charge in less than a minute because of graphene.
- Speaking of batteries, Toyota has confirmed the first "fuel cell" car for launch in Europe next year. "Fuel cells" are a kind of huge battery, so instead of visiting a gas station, you would stop at a fuel cell station and simply trade empty cells for full ones.
- I've saved the most fun for last: check out this post, they made a "pyro board," with flames that change based on the music playing (there's a great explanation of how, and then the music drops at 3:38 in the video).
The power of the wind! |
